Haitians Firing My AK-47′s. This one is for the Zoe Pound
Sweet Coupe – Min Rat La (Twoubadou)
Twoubadou music is a very popular form of guitar-based Haitian music which was brought back by Haitian migrant laborers who went to work on Cuban sugar plantations at the turn of the century. True to the original Spanish troubadours, the music and its lyrics usually conjured up images of true love and lasting relationships. Although more popular during times past, today it is sometimes considered passé or only for the old folks. Although more recently, it has begun being eclipsed by more popular forms of Rasin and Konpa music, it is making a comeback even among groups like Mizik Mizik (“Blakawout’) who are popular among the younger crowds.

US Army supports Haitian relief
Evans’ Haiti Relief Effort heyjusthollaback@me.com
Hi, my name is Evans but my friends call me Jedi. With the help of family and friends, I was able to make an effort to help the citizens of Haiti after a major earthquake hit the capitol. The quake lasted 36 seconds and flattened Port-Au-Prince. I traveled alone with over 100 lbs of medical supplies and was not affiliated with any relief organization. I flew into DR, Santo Domingo and caught a ride to the border. I then walked into Haiti. With the help of “Junior”, I was able to travel through the city and converse with the devastated population. I administered medical aid to the remote areas of the city where help had not yet arrived. Once I ran out of supplies I returned home via a military flight. This is my entire 7 day trip condensed into several minutes.

Rebuilding Haiti
HAITI – Nearly three months after the devastating earthquake, Haitians are trying to rebuild their lives. But some say international aid is getting in the way of them making a living. Others want the reconstruction effort to stretch further afield from the capital, Port-au-Prince, to create a better future for the entire country. France 24 correspondents Karim Hakiki and Jessica Le Masurier were in Haiti to find out how survivors are coping.
