Black Parents – Vini’M Pale’w (Twoubadou)
Twoubadou music is a very popular form of guitar-based Haitian music which was brought back by Haitian migrant laborers who went to work on Cuban sugar plantations at the turn of the century. True to the original Spanish troubadours, the music and its lyrics usually conjured up images of true love and lasting relationships. Although more popular during times past, today it is sometimes considered passé or only for the old folks. Although more recently, it has begun being eclipsed by more popular forms of Rasin and Konpa music, it is making a comeback even among groups like Mizik Mizik (“Blakawout’) who are popular among the younger crowds.

Haiti-Words of Gratitude
Haiti-Words of Gratitude Written By Francois Victor on behalf of the Haitian people as a token of appreciation to the world for the humanitarian gesture, how great, towards Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake. My wish is that each and everyone throughout the five continents finds in it his/her share of gratitude from Haiti I dedicate this poem to my daughter Regine who spontaneously, as she heard the news, coordinated many talents amongst her peers at Bridgeport University to present a beautiful show to raise funds for Haiti. Special dedication, to all the media, in particular Anderson Cooper and the CNN crew who showed so much charisma from the first hours in bringing the news to the world. Honor and respect to Dr Gupta Sanje and the entire medical personnel whom I don’t have the names, but who relentlessly cared for the wounded, saved thanks to the diligence and expertise of the rescue teams. It’s a token of appreciation on behalf of the Haitian people to all Persons, ,all Nations, all Peoples, all Associations, Groups, Organizations and Institutions who volunteered to contribute in so many ways to help Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake on January 12, 2010 Thank you People of the World, Thank you all.

RAM – Fèy (Racine/vodou music)
Whoo, that song definitely takes waaaay back since it was one of my favorites. This song was banned under Cedras (1991-1994) because it was thought to show support to Aristide, although there is no direct link or mentioning of politics.
