Haiti Earthquake: No U.N. instructions to Medical staff (David Wimhurst)

United Nations, New York, 16 January 2010: Spokesman for the mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) David Wimhurst said today that no instructions by the United Nations (UN), security officials or any other officials were issued to any medical staff in any medical facility in Haiti to stop working. Instruction were indeed given to the doctor’s to leave by UN troops. There is no reason Dr. Gupta would lie about this, sorry.

It has nothing to do with lies. As a former reporter I can tell you misinformation flows easily in such terrible conditions. David Wimhurst of the UN is an old friend ; he would not fabricate stories. Let’s do what we can.
